The nominees for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards have arrived. The Recording Academy’s assessment of the most influential music of 2025 stays true to popular discourse, highlighting the artists who have dominated the charts and high-profile stages since the last cycle. This year, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Leon Thomas, Sabrina Carpenter, Clipse, Turnstile, SZA, Doechii and Tyler, The Creator have all earned several nods for their respective media moments, while some surprises and historic possibilities will add intrigue to the 2026 ceremony.

De La Soul have announced their tenth studio album, Cabin in the Sky. The foundational hip-hop group’s follow-up to 2016’s And the Anonymous Nobody… is also its first since the death of founding member Dave Jude Jolicoeur, aka Trugoy the Dove, who passed away at the age of 54 in 2023. To preview the project, arriving on Nov. 21 via Mass Appeal, they’ve shared the Pete Rock-produced lead single “The Package.”

In late 2015, Khruangbin seemed to emerge out of nowhere with their full-length Dead Oceans debut, The Universe Smiles Upon You, introducing a national audience to their trademark, psychedelic “Thai-funk” sound. In 2015, Neal Casal rallied Dan Horne, Adam MacDougall, and Mark Levy to take inspiration from the Grateful Dead and prepare a set of songs rooted in deep grooves and pocked with improvisational dents, true to the original band’s creative spirit. At the request of Justin Kreutzmann, the ensemble produced Interludes For The Dead, a set of songs recorded and debuted during the Fare Thee Well concert setbreaks. After 10 years and achieving beloved status amongst fans, the ensemble, which now features John Lee Shannon, has turned in Interludes for the Dead: Vol. 2.

On October 31, the Disco Biscuits turned a new leaf by revamping their lineup and welcoming drummer Marlon B. Lewis during the onset of their Fall Tour. The enduring livetronica act, known for its high-energy, improvisation-driven performances that fuse trance and danceable grooves, followed up with shows on November 2 at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville and on Wednesday in Charlottesville, Va. Most recently, on Thursday, November 6, they performed their new song “Can’t Decide” live for the first time as the Disco Biscuits, after its initial debut under their Tractorbeam moniker at Hulaween.

After an eight-year pause in studio releases, The Barr Brothers delivered their latest record, Let It Hiss, on October 17. The folk-leaning batch of songs pulls back a spikey shield to reveal a layer of chamomile-brewed vulnerability, like a reflective pause that relishes in shared experience and the brazen musical kinship between brothers, Brad and Andrew Barr. In recognition of the set’s arrival, Brad tapped Stuart Bogie (sax and clarinet) and Shahzad Ismaily (bass) to perform select songs from the album for WNYC’s in-studio session.

After five decades of performance, Journey have announced their farewell tour. The arena rock mainstays will celebrate their legacy and conclude an unforgettable run with the Final Frontier Tour; from Feb. 28 to July 2, the group will make 60 stops across North America in the first leg of an outing with no definite end date.
