Jerry Garcia ambles into the hotel room overlooking New York’s Central Park. He appears relaxed, although in four hours, he will be on stage at Nassau Coliseum for the second of a three-night stand in mid-May 1980. Garcia appears happy, and if being a major rock star has ever gotten to his head, he doesn’t show it. He’s as cordial as can be. Does he mind if the photographer shoots a few pics? No, go right ahead. Does he want to do the interview anywhere special? Wherever we want. He’s that kind of person, and as an interview subject is a delight, answering every question in detail, in an honest, forthright manner. And for someone in the eye of the hurricane, he has a remarkably acute understanding of its workings.

Tonight in Toronto, Chris Stapleton will bring his All-American Road Show to Rogers Stadium in Toronto. Stapleton will be joined by Zach Top and Allen Stone for this performance. On Wednesday, Guns N’ Roses appeared at the same venue and Stapleton was on hand a day early to check out the action.
Conducted by Yale law school professor Charles Reich, noted author of classic bestseller The Greening of America, along with Rolling Stone editor and publisher Jann Wenner, this interview provided the first sustained, book-length view of the Dead as they entered the 1970s from the mind of the musician who, for many fans, represented the leader and guiding spirit of the band. This is the book that immortalized Garcia as the philosopher-king of the Haight-Ashbury, plus an archival, custom clamshell rare book box with an exclusive Garcia handprint foil imprint.

On Friday, July 24 the String Cheese Incident performed at the Cuthbert Amphitheater in Eugene. During the second set, SCI welcomed Scott Law to the stage for a cover of Johnny Cash’s “Big River.” Law later returned for the encore, which was a raucous 11-minute version of “Deal.” To mark the middle of the Days Between, the period between Jerry Garcia’s August 1 birthday and his passing on August 9, the group has shared a live performance video from that show.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Steal Your Face is the Grateful Dead's 1976 double album chronicling a series of shows recorded at Winterland in San Francisco during October 1974. This reissue features audio remastered by David Glasser and is pressed on the official 'Grateful Red' and 'Stealie Blue' colors.

Acclaimed photographer Danny Clinch has been officially working with Phish since 1994. Although that was his first official shoot with the band, he’d been checking them out for a little while. In conjunction with the band’s return to the 1990s via five shows at Madison Square Garden, Clinch is selling a series of prints, via a Phish Phine Art Print Sale with portions of the proceeds benefiting the Divided Sky Foundation.

Tedeschi Trucks Band are back out on the road for a stretch of dates that will extend into early September. Joining them for many of these gigs will be Lukas Nelson. Last night they appeared at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery Amphitheatre in Woodinville, WA for the second of two shows at the venue.

Although they have crossed paths over the course of their celebrated careers Steve Earle and Los Lobos have now joined forces in the studio for the first time. The artists have just released “Volver A Celaya” via New West Records. They recorded the Earle composition at Red Amp Studios in Richmond, VA earlier this summer with Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin producing the session. The song is now available for streaming and will be released on October 16 as a 7” vinyl single via Independent Retailers.

Joe Pernice | Live From Relix
After hearing that MJ Lenderman and Waxahatchee put their own spin on a Scud Mountain Boys' tune, Joe Pernice decided to return the favor. The Scud Mountain Boys frontman and Pernice Brothers member stopped by the Relix office for an in-office session, performing two of his own songs and a heartfelt cover of MJ Lenderman's "Under Control." It's a full-circle musical moment that highlights the mutual admiration between two generations of songwriters.
