Jerry Garcia Music Arts has partnered with the specialized media company JGE to bring to life Eyes of the World: The Jerry Garcia Experience, a new, immersive, 40,000-square-foot touring event. Built from an original vision Garcia himself began sketching more than 30 years ago, the singular exhibition is set "to bring to life his music, visual art and musings.” Fittingly, Eyes of the World: The Jerry Garcia Experience will launch in San Francisco in early 2027, before traveling to cities around the country.

Phish returned to their native New England last night for the first of two big shows at Boston’s Fenway Park. It was the Vermont Quartet’s first Fenway appearance since a two-night stand at the baseball stadium in 2019 and their first show since completing a thematic run of five dates at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where they revisited a handful of impactful years during their rise through the ranks in the 1990s.

Over the weekend, Tedeschi Trucks Band made their way to Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre for marquee shows on Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1, after Susan Tedeschi cancelled a pair of festival stops due to appendix surgery a few weeks earlier. Lukas Nelson opened both nights and the guitarist honored Jerry Garcia on his birthday Saturday by performing “Althea” for the first time with his current solo combo.

As we enter the Days Between, marking Jerry Garcia's birth on August 1, 1942 and his passing on August 9, 1995, we share this piece, which draws together a spring 2020 conversation with Melvin Seals, who began performing with the Jerry Garcia Band in 1980, along with an archival interview with Jacklyn LaBranch, another Jerry Garcia Band alum, who joined the group in 1982, at Seals' suggestion.

Billy Strings hosted a big camping weekend at Bethel, NY’s Bethel Woods Center For The Arts over the weekend. The bluegrass guitar prodigy loaded his first shows at the historic venue, which is located on the site of the original Woodstock festival, with special moments, beginning during his first set on Friday, July 31, when he debuted “Mill Town Flood,” a track off his forthcoming record So Much for Goodbyes. On night one, he also brought back a pair of tunes for the first time this year, Leon Rusk’s “Airmail Special” and Bobby Davidson’s “If Your Hair Is Too Long, There’s Sin In Your Heart,” the latter of which found Strings and most of his band gathered around a single mic.

Gov't Mule had an eventful weekend on the road, during which they both collaborated with their tourmate Joe Bonamassa and honored Jerry Garcia on his birthday. On Friday, July 31, Gov't Mule's joint run with Bonamassa landed at Bangor, ME's Maine Savings Amphitheater at Bangor Waterfront. Like he did on the tour's opening night in Virginia on Wednesday, Bonamassa emerged during Gov't Mule's first set for a tune from the Allman Brothers Band songbook, this time appearing on "Dreams." Haynes returned the favor during Bonamassa's performance as well, slipping on stage for Billy Cobham's "Stratus" for the second show in a row.

Over the weekend, Dark Star Orchestra both honored Jerry Garcia’s birthday and marked the one-year-anniversary of Bob Weir’s final live performances with a pair of guest-filled shows at Berkeley, CA’s Greek Theatre. Billed as The Music Never Stops: A Rex Foundation Benefit & Tribute to Bob Weir, the concerts included support spots from Melvin Seals & JGB featuring Jazz Mafia Horns and Peter Rowan & Sam Grisman Project on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Over the weekend, moe. hosted their moe.down Underground event at Pelham, TN's The Caverns. Shadowgrass opened on Friday, July 31, lespecial provided support duties on Saturday, August 1 and both shows leaned into the event's festival-like vibe with some special musical surprises.

Tame Impala are currently enjoying a pop-culture moment thanks to K-pop star JENNIE's remix of "Dracula." The song originally appeared on last year's Deadbeat, Tame Impala's fifth studio album, and quickly became the psych-rock group's first track to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Then, on February 6, JENNIE, who is best known as a singer in the South Korean group BLACKPINK, released her remix of the tune, which boasts her vocals and emerged as unexpected TikTok breakout. The remix peaked at No. 2. on the Billboard Global Chart, making it Tame Impala's first Top 10 hit.
