RECAP

Last night, the Cascadia chapter of Bob Dylan’s current tour picked up at McMenamins’ Edgefield in Troutdale, Ore. After seemingly finding a setlist sweet spot during his early spring appearances, sticking to the same positioning of tunes night after night, the musician drew outside the lines during his Thursday show, which was located outside the perimeter of Portland, Ore., by introducing a new song into his live repertoire: Basement Tapes deepcut “Baby, Won’t You Be My Baby.”

Jesse Welles has arrived at his ancestral home, at least musically. It’s a hot, not-quite-muggy early June evening and the 33-year-old, Ozark, Ark.-bred folk singer is standing in New York’s Washington Square Park preparing for a pop-up show, a few days before the release of his most recent album of politically charged songs, Masks Off. Washington Square Park has long been a Mecca for free thinkers and counter-culture types and many of Welles’ musical heroes got their start congregating just a few feet away.

A live show, on tape, with the player to spin it on. This bundle pairs the limited-edition Taper's Choice – Relix 50: Live at Brooklyn Bowl cassette with a portable cassette player, so you can drop the tape in and press play the day it arrives.

The String Cheese Incident pulled out all the stops during their latest live appearance at the Center for the Arts in Crested Butte, Colo. Greensky Bluegrass embarked on their summer tour last night with a performance at Toronto’s The Opera House. To set a high bar for the 29-show sprint ahead, the trailblazing jamgrass outfit began with an expression of gratitude for their friend and longtime lighting designer Andrew Lincoln, who they invited to the stage to lead a take on the Jerry Garcia Band live staple “That’s What Love Will Make You Do.”
