The great Buddy Guy will turn 90 later this year. To mark the occasion, a special event will take place at Radio City Music Hall on October 1. Buddy’s Got the Blues: A 90th Birthday Concert Celebration will draw together an extraordinary collections of players to pay respects to the musical legend.

Tributes continue to pore in for Clive Davis, the renowned music executive who passed away yesterday at age 94. The Grateful Dead, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Patti Smith, Billy Joel, Kenny Loggins, and Aerosmith are among the artists to share messages extolling Davis and his legacy.
Each Tuesday, Play Dead is releasing newly mastered Hi-Res shows from the vault. This Tuesday: the final two nights at Rosemont Horizon in Spring 1989. The latest drop features a rare “Iko Iko” opener, the first “To Lay Me Down” of the tour, and “Truckin'“ > “Smokestack Lightning” > “Spoonful.” Curated by David Lemieux and mastered by David Glasser, both shows are now streaming in Hi-Res on Play Dead.

The latest studio album from Jim James will be released on Friday, August 28. Wowed Out is the first solo recording in eight years from the My Morning Jacket frontman. This album draws on material that James originally contributed to two film scores in the 2010s and then revisited for this project. James explains, “For years I kept returning to all this music we’d made and couldn’t figure out what to do with it. But for some reason, last year everything started flowing in a really beautiful way.”
The Rolling Stones don't do anything small, and their return to the studio after more than a decade deserved something bigger than a standard release. Foreign Tongues is that album, and the Marvel Collector's Series is the artifact that goes with it, five limited-edition vinyl variants built around Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Thor, and Hulk, each one pressed on colored vinyl with Marvel-commissioned artwork and a custom comic book insert designed to match its edition.

On September 25, Karina Rykman will release her second studio effort, Late Checkout. The album was recorded with Gabe Monro at Trey Anastasio’s The Barn and LCD Soundsystem’s DFA Studios. Rykman is joined by her longtime bandmates Adam November (guitar, loopers, effects) and Chris Corsico (drums) on Late Checkout.

The Slip were slated to perform one of their rare reunion sets this past Saturday at the Northlands Music & Arts Festival in Swanzey, NH. However, the roster shifted slightly when the festival announced that due to a last minute scheduling conflict, Slip drummer Andrew Barr would not be able to attend the event.
