Yesterday, Eric Clapton headlined the second and final night of his Crossroads Guitar Festival, the long-running benefit show he staged at Austin, TX’s Moody Center this year. In addition to Clapton, Sunday’s lineup also featured Sonny Landreth, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tommy Emmanuel, CGP, Julian Lage, Del McCoury Band, Sierra Hull, Jerry Douglas, Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Robert Randolph, Eric Gales, Jimmie Vaughan, Marcus King, Joe Bonamassa, Doyle Bramhall II, Charlie Sexton, Elle Bramhall, Susannah Melvoin, Trey Anastasio, John Mayer, Gary Clark Jr., Alam Khan and John McLaughlin, most of whom performed in unique configurations.

Medeski, Martin & Wood keyboardist John Medeski and Phish drummer Jon Fishman will play a run of shows celebrating the music of Sun Ra at New York’s The Stone next summer. The multi-night stand, which is part of a John Medeski-curated week of shows at John Zorn’s avant-garde space, will take place August 18-21, 2027. In addition to Medeski and Fishman, the gigs promise what is described as “VERY special guests” each night.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead were slated to kick off a two-night run at New York’s Pier 17. However, both shows were cancelled due to a Nor’easter that shutdown most outdoor live-music events throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions this weekend. The New York-bred Grateful Dead project had already arrived at Pier 17 and started to soundcheck when they learned their show could not proceed as planned, so the quintet decided to stage a free pop-up show outside the venue instead.

John Mayer will return to Las Vegas’ Sphere for a series of headlining dates next year. The guitarist, who hosted residencies at the venue in 2024 and 2025 as a member of Dead & Company, will appear at the immersive space on April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17 and 18. According to the announcement, he will perform solo, with his full and in a trio format. The trio spots will feature bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Steve Jordan; the John Mayer Trio last performed together in 2023, when they regrouped for short sets at Love Rocks and the Crossroads Guitar Festival. Since Bob Weir’s passing earlier this year, Mayer has shied away from covering Grateful Dead music as he has inched back into his solo career.

Pearl Jam dramatically revealed their new drummer this past Friday during Dana Point, CA’s Ohana Festival, which is held at Doheny State Beach. The weekend’s eclectic lineup, as billed, featured Eddie Vedder & Friends, Maná, Billy Idol, Bad Religion, Courtney Barnett, the reunited Sugar, Midnight Generation, Otoboke Beaver and Mereba on Friday; Tyler Childers, Alabama Shakes, Jon Batiste, Men I Trust, Stephen Wilson Jr. and Jake Wesley Rogers on Saturday; and Pearl Jam, Fontaines D.C., Pixies, Rilo Kiley, The Format, The Front Bottoms, Tom Odell, Alice Phoebe Lou and Horsegirl on Sunday.

Brandi Carlile has confirmed a round of dates on her upcoming outing Burn The Setlist (The All Request Tour), a special trio run with her longtime bandmates and collaborators Phil and Tim Hanseroth. Each show will feature a unique setlist comprised entirely of “live, in-the-moment fan requests”—a format Carlile introduced during her The Human Tour earlier this year.

On Friday, Karina Rykman celebrated the release of her sophomore album, Late Checkout, with a headlining show at New York’s Webster Hall. Guerilla Toss, who like Rykman have worked at Trey Anastasio’s Vermont studio The Barn, opened the night, and the bassist welcomed several special guests to the stage throughout the evening.

Brooklyn, NY native Jimmy Kimmel will return home to tape a series of shows this week. For the eighth year, the late-night host will record Jimmy Kimmel Live! in front of a live studio audience from the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House as part of the Kimmel in Brooklyn series. A mix of Northeast-based actors, comedians, politicians and bands will appear on the program, including Pete Davidson, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, TV On The Radio, Howard Stern, Amy Schumer, Billy Crystal, Mahershala Ali, De La Soul, John Oliver, Seth Meyers, Robby Hoffman, Paul McCartney, Sen. Bernie Sanders and Goose. Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band and special guest Tom Morello were slated to perform tomorrow, but they have since cancelled their appearance.
