Eric Clapton headlined the second and final night of his Crossroads Guitar Festival, the long-running benefit show he staged at Austin, TX’s Moody Center this year. In addition to Clapton, Sunday’s lineup also featured Sonny Landreth, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tommy Emmanuel, CGP, Julian Lage, Del McCoury Band, Sierra Hull, Jerry Douglas, Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Robert Randolph, Eric Gales, Jimmie Vaughan, Marcus King, Joe Bonamassa, Doyle Bramhall II, Charlie Sexton, Elle Bramhall, Susannah Melvoin, Trey Anastasio, John Mayer, Gary Clark Jr., Alam Khan and John McLaughlin, most of whom performed in unique configurations.

Medeski, Martin & Wood keyboardist John Medeski and Phish drummer Jon Fishman will play a run of shows celebrating the music of Sun Ra at New York’s The Stone next summer. The multi-night stand, which is part of a John Medeski-curated week of shows at John Zorn’s avant-garde space, will take place August 18-21, 2027. In addition to Medeski and Fishman, the gigs promise what is described as “VERY special guests” each night.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead were slated to kick off a two-night run at New York’s Pier 17 last weekend. However, both shows were cancelled due to an incoming Nor’easter that shutdown most outdoor live-music events throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

John Mayer will return to Las Vegas’ Sphere for a series of headlining dates next year. The guitarist, who hosted residencies at the venue in 2024 and 2025 as a member of Dead & Company, will appear at the immersive space on April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17 and 18. According to the announcement, he will perform solo, with his full and in a trio format.

Fear of Music is the Talking Heads’ third studio effort. Released in 1979, this was the group’s second collaboration with producer Brian Eno. The album includes such notable songs as "Cities," "Life During Wartime," "Heaven" and "I Zimbra" yet it is the totality of musical atmosphere that led it to be named Album of the Year by multiple publications (including the Los Angeles Times and NME). It remains a presence on numerous lists of all-time best records.

Bob Weir’s 2016 studio set Blue Mountain will be celebrated with an expanded digital deluxe edition this fall. The new version of cross-generational, roots-leaning record, which was released 10 years ago today, will be issued on November 20 via Rhino/WMG, featuring previously unreleased recordings, live performances and other new offerings. The Blue Mountain album anniversary celebration has officially begun, however, with a pre-order for a new 2LP pressing of the original Blue Mountain on 180-gram black vinyl. It will be available exclusively at Dead.net on October 16, Weir’s birthday.

LCD Soundsystem have confirmed their annual New York holiday residency. The ensemble will perform 12 shows over three weekends, beginning with a November 19-22 stand at Queens, NY’s Knockdown Center and continuing with their return to Brooklyn Steel from November 30-December 3. The run of shows will conclude with four more dates at Knockdown Center from December 10-13.

Willie Nelson brought the annual Farm Aid benefit concert to a close on Saturday night, welcoming a slew of event participants to the stage at Virginia Beach, VA’s Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater.

This Is Lorelei | Live From Relix

On September 3, a week before his album release and days before his feature in The New Yorker, This Is Lorelei visited the Relix Office and performed the opening track from The Singer in My Band, "I Will Eat My Heart In The Morning Light." He followed with "Billy Came Back," another song from his latest album. The session then concluded with a fan (and office) favorite, "Dancing In The Club".
