Dave Matthews, Trey Anastasio and Chris Stapleton performed at the 51st annual New York Honors Gala at New York’s Cipriani 42nd Street last night. The evening benefited The T.J. Martell Foundation, a leading music industry foundation that provides funds for innovative cancer research, and ended up raising more than $3.2 million.

Wilco have confirmed a pair of special hometown holiday shows. On December 4 and 5, the Windy City-based band will return to the Chicago Theatre for their semi-annual Wilco’s Winterlude event.

Presented by Relix, moe. will play multi-night runs at three different small venues “where we can get nice and cozy.” So far, the group has confirmed stops at Woodstock, NY’s Bearsville Theater on December 11 and 12 and Chicago’s Garcia’s from December 18-20. They will also perform on December 14-16 at a yet-to-be-announced location.

Knoxville, TN’s Big Ears Festival has confirmed its 2027 lineup. The 14th annual multi-day, multi-venue gathering will take place throughout downtown Knoxville from April 1-4.

On Saturday, the annual Sound Summit event was held atop Mount Tam at Sidney B. Cushing Memorial Amphitheatre in Marin County, CA. The day-long festival featured marquee sets by Father John Misty, Guster and Jerry Harrison’s 50 Years of Talking Heads, which grew out of his Remain in Light project with Adrian Belew and Turkuaz. La Luz and Angeline Saris & The Snack Machine also performed.

Riley Green, Zach Top and Garth Brooks will headline Stagecoach next year. The annual country music event will return to Indio, CA’s Empire Polo Club from April 23-25, 2027, shortly after Coachella is held on the same site.

Surf music was famously invented in the early 1960s by Dick Dale, a Lebanese-American kid from Boston. Dale’s big hit, “Miserlou,” was adapted from a Mediterranean folk song, and he played his guitar like an oud, which he’d learned from his uncle, with staccato verve. Dale turned up the reverb, employed non-Western scales, and included the celebratory Jewish tune “Hava Nagila” in his repertoire. More than a half-century later, New York guitarist Jon Madof and bandmates Yoshie Fruchter (bass) and Nate Rappaport (drums) make surf rock sound all kinds of new on the power trio’s debut album, Netzach (Eternity), which transforms the oceanic sounds of surf into something deeper, heavier and edgier.
