“When three modern groove masters of modern funk and soul-jazz converge, sparks are bound to fly.” That’s the introduction to The Breaks, a new band that congregates instrumental dynamos guitarist Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds), drummer Stanton Moore (Galactic), and organist Robert Walter (The Greyboy Allstars) into a cohesive contemporary funk force. The trio shared a sketch of their musical backgrounds and melded band intentions, along with details on their first live appearances.

Gene Simmons, the Kiss co-lead singer and bassist, is gearing up for a conversation on the Hill. The musician, known for his 55+ tenure in live music, will testify before a Senate panel on legislation that would require radio corporations to compensate artists for playing their songs. Simmons is expected to be in Washington, D.C. next week, according to the musicFIRST coalition.

On July 16-18, 2026, 4848 Festival returns to Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Snowshoe, W.V., for another engaging weekend of musical entertainment situated within the Allegany Mountains. Patty Griffin has announced a new slate of live dates for 2026. From Feb. 11 to Feb. 26, the Americana icon will deliver 10 performances across the Southwest and West Coast, including special co-headline bills with Taj Mahal and Rickie Lee Jones. Griffin’s upcoming outing follows her triumphant 11th studio album Crown of Roses, which arrived in July as her first full-length offering in six years, and precedes two previously announced summer shows supporting Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit.

Outside Days has unveiled the full artist lineup for its 2026 festival, set to take over downtown Denver’s Auraria Campus from May 29-31. When Jeff Tweedy stepped out on tour in support of his new triple solo album, Twilight Override, there was a built-in expectation that the currency of his typical 20-song set did not have the capacity to fit the entirety of his latest studio efforts. During his initial touring leg, the guitarist and esteemed songwriter found a fit for certain pieces, with some exceptions. One of those outliers was “Throwaway Lines,” Tweedy’s meditation on the capacity of the written word to fluctuate feelings of hurt, desire, fear, and love.
