Gillian Welch and David Rawlings will return to New York for some additional Acoustic Reckoning dates before the end of the year. The shows which takes their name from the Grateful Dead’s 1981 double live album, Reckoning present the Dead’s repertoire from an acoustic perspective beyond just the songs that appear on Reckoning. The duo had already confirmed a Southern run from October 18-24. They’ve just added shows from December 12-18.

Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue found him collaborating with a variety of different artists over two legs of a tour that began in 1975 and extended into 1976. In 2019 Martin Scorsese directed a documentary that looked at these shows, titled Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese. The latter portion of the tour is now the subject of a massive new box set. The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1976 Live Recordings will be released on November 6.

Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds recently kicked off their Mutiny For The Masses tour. The shows have typically offered upwards of 26 songs, reaching nearly three hours in duration. The quintet has been drawing heavily from their latest album, Mutiny After Midnight as well as 2024’s Passage du Desir. In addition the group has sprinkled in additional Sturgill Simpson material, as well as select covers, included INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart” which they performed for the first time on Saturday.

Bettye Crutcher was a pioneering artist. In 1967 she joined Stax Records as the lone female songwriter on staff. There, she contributed many compositions, serving as co-writer on "Who's Making Love" for Johnnie Taylor, which received a Grammy nomination for the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song. She went on to release her own album, 1974’s Long as You Love Me. Her work was performed by the Staple Singers, Sam & Dave, Albert King, Buddy Guy and many others.

As previously announced, Trey Anastasio and Billy Strings will join forces on November 20 and Saturday, November 21, at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA. The two artists will perform together and also will be backed by the Trey Anastasio Band. Proceeds from these shows will be directed to the Divided Sky Foundation, which provides affordable and accessible care to people struggling with addiction. Anastasio has also just announced a series of gigs with his group that will precede the Divided Sky benefits.

The Toy Factory Project have added a high-profile show to their New Year’s run. The all-star outfit, which celebrates the legacy of Marshall Tucker Band founder Toy Caldwell, will now headline Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on December 28. The ensemble previously confirmed that they will ring in 2027 at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on December 31.

Last night, Angine de Poitrine made their U.S. television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Microtonal guitarist Khn de Poitrine and drummer Klek de Poitrine opted to perform a new song on the program rather one of the tunes from their two existing albums. The composition they performed on Fallon is titled “Zugzegk” (and it's well worth watching Jimmy's introduction to hear how that's pronounced).
