On Friday night in Bend, Goose kicked off the first of two shows at the Hayden Homes Amphitheater. This performance also represented the second of two consecutive gigs in which Greensky Bluegrass opened for the quartet. Members of the two groups shared the stage at the Oregon venue.

Back on August 31, 2024 drummer Jay Weinberg sat in with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville. Weinberg appeared on “Perihelion” that day and has continued to guest with the group over the past two years. He was on hand at last week’s Field of Vision II festival in Buena Vista, CO for a solo drum clinic and he also joined the host band for their song "Hell."
We look back at the group’s formative years at the University of Georgia and trace the colorful journey that has ensued, from celebrated festival appearances to a stunning series of sold-out Red Rocks appearances. Indeed, the spirit of this issue will match the vigor and vitality of a buoyant band that never hesitates to ask, “Ain’t Life Grand?”

On April 9, 2000 Widespread Panic performed a one-off show at the Civic Center, Albany, GA. The band had opened its spring tour on April 1 with three nights at the Classic Center in Athens. Panic was in fine form during these spring dates and certainly at the Civic Center show. This performance is now being released as the latest installment of the Widespread Panic Archive multi-track series.
In 1966, Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention released rock's first-ever double LP: a satirical, genre-detonating debut that rewired what a "rock album" could be. Sixty years later, Freak Out! gets the treatment it's earned: a 5LP, 180-gram Super Deluxe vinyl box set featuring a newly rediscovered pre-master mix, the restored original mono master, and a bonus LP of never-before-released material. Freshly remastered in 2026, the box also includes a 26-page booklet, a reproduction of the original fold-out "Hot Spots Map," and a lithographic print.

On September 18 Neil Young will release a new album with the Chrome Hearts. Second Song is the sophomore release from the group, which also includes Micah Nelson (guitar), Spooner Oldham (keys), drummer Anthony LoGergo (drums), and bassist Cory McCormick (bass).

On August 9, lovers of the blues and six-string mastery were treated to a guitar summit from Gov’t Mule and Joe Bonamassa at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre.

On Saturday in Nashville, Big Thief’s performance at the Ryman Auditorium took a surprising and satisfying turn. Early on, Adrianne Lenker informed the audience in a welcoming manner, “If you had some hopes of hearing some songs you might know those can be discarded.” She then added, “If you’re all open to it, it could be a really unique night of music.” The trio, which also consists of Buck Meek and James Krivchenia (along with touring bassist Joshua Crumbly) then delivered the 29 songs from the group’s forthcoming album Horsepower.
