Last night, Sept. 30, Goose returned to the stage for the latest stop on their fall tour. The rapidly rising indie jam quartet’s last lap of 2025 has celebrated a year of tremendous achievement with nightly live surprises, and their engagement at Columbus, Ohio’s Kemba Live! continued the trend with revived treatments of old favorite covers.

On Tuesday, September 30, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers returned to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, N.Y. Last night’s performance represented the band’s second consecutive show at the historic venue, with support from special guests Eggy. Like the night prior, Hornsby welcomed the openers to assist on select numbers. They exchanged the favor during their latest live show, welcoming Hornsby, and members of the pianist’s band, guitarist Gibb Dull, and John Mailander on mandolin.

I have been singing since I could talk. At 3 years old, I enthusiastically joined a beat performer in Litchfield, S.C., to sing my favorite songs, “Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute” and “Let a Frown Be Your Umbrella.” My life, in many ways, has been one big stage. I have always been surrounded by artists and the arts. When I was 16, I started playing with friends in a rock band. Since then, I have never looked back. When I arrived at Florida State in 1991, I was in a band within a week.

Tortoise have released “Works and Days,” previewing Touch, their first new album in nine years. Set for release via International Anthem and Nonesuch Records on Oct. 24, the revered Chicago post-rock ensemble’s first full-length offering since 2016’s The Catastrophist reunites bandmates Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Douglas McCombs, John McEntire and Jeff Parker from their independent careers to reveal how their shared perspective has evolved after nearly a decade apart. The project’s third advance offering is a shimmering web of bright percussion, ambling guitar and enticing, light synthesizer lines.
