When Primus unexpectedly parted ways with their drummer shortly before New Year’s Eve a year and a half ago, bassist/singer Les Claypool quickly pivoted, pulling together several of the oft-intertwined projects he’s focused on during the past 30 years for two highly collaborative shows at Oakland, Calif.’s The Fox Theatre. The concerts, billed as Claypool Gold, worked and this spring and summer the bassist has been taking the concept on the road, performing distinct sets with his refreshed Primus lineup, the improvisationally heavy Colonel Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade and The Claypool Lennon Delirium, who recently released their third LP, The Great Parrot-Ox and the Golden Egg of Empathy.

Gene and Dean Ween walked into Nashville in 1996 with a batch of songs that managed to be both a loving tribute to classic country and something no Nashville studio had ever quite seen before. Backed by an A-team of session musicians, the album's tracks landed with a sincerity that surprised even the skeptics, proving that the duo's chameleonic genius extended far beyond the basement four-track weirdness that made them cult legends.

Wendy Eisenberg has been getting raves for their songwriting, banjo picking, keyboard work and genre-breaking guitar playing for more than a decade. They’re noted for their work as a side-person and in bands like Lower Chamber, an LGBTQ free-improv group, as well as numerous punk, art-rock and folk outfits. They also teach songwriting at The New School. On their new self-titled album, recorded in their home studio with a small band of friends, they had time to explore the back catalog of songs they’d accumulated over the years. In the arrangements, they returned to a more basic singer-songwriter sound, although traces of experimental music and fractured rhythms remain evident.
