In preparation for the West Coast iteration of Unbroken Chain: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Phil Lesh, which begins tonight at The Fillmore in San Francisco, bandleader Grahame Lesh called a pre-show summit on Thursday, March 19. Yesterday afternoon’s arrival at The Junction Beer Garden in Mill Valley, Calif. was dubbed the event’s official Kick-Off Party, with a guest list that included Bay Area staples delivering three sets of Grateful Dead music that recalled the bygone days of Terrapin Crossroads.

Today, Tedeschi Trucks Band have released Future Soul, the long-awaited sixth studio album from the Southern rock outfit fronted by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks. The trailblazing 12-piece ensemble’s follow-up to 2022’s I Am the Moon lands amid a torrent of activity from the band, currently midway through their 10-show annual residency at New York’s historic Beacon Theatre, where each night has brought surprises ranging from debut covers to sit-ins from giants like Nels Cline. As the band took a break from the run last night, a selection from their show last Saturday served as the material for a guest spot on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country have unveiled the official dates and locations for their imminent Summer Tour. The list comprises over 40 live appearances, including already-announced duo gigs with Grahame Lesh, Molly Tuttle, shared dates with Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, in addition to a hefty lineup of festival dates and independent stops securing the bandleader’s road dog status.

Just over a month ago, the Gabba Gallery in Los Angeles opened an exhibition of Fillmore posters on an epic scale. While the event is titled Echoes of Gen X: The Art of the Fillmore (1980s–2000s) the prints and concert ephemera span all the way back to Bill Graham’s earliest days promoting events at the hallowed San Francisco venue in 1966.

Umphrey’s McGee Dish Out Debut Original on Second Night in Portland, Welcome Saxophonist Sean McLean
On Thursday, March 19, Umphrey’s McGee took the stage at Revolution Hall in Portland, Ore. The band’s most recent live appearance represented their second and final night at the Rose City location. Notably, Jake Cinninger remained absent, following the March 9 news that he would be taking a “necessary leave of absence for personal reasons” during their March run. The latest stop on the Sky’s The Limit Tour began with a debut original and later included accompaniment from visiting saxophonist Sean McLean.
