Grateful Dead to Present Remastered and Unreleased Recordings on Blues for Allah 50th Anniversary Set, Share “The Music Never Stopped” 2025 Edition
In October 1974, the Grateful Dead had established an undeniable following that cemented their status as cultural iconoclasts, bred from the beatnik movement’s rejection of conformity. A tribe of originalists with nearly a decade of gigs under their belts, the band performed what they believed was their final stint of concerts at San Francisco’s Winterland, dubbed the “farewell run.” What followed was a self-imposed hiatus, which would come to an end a year later with the surprise release of Blues for Allah.

The San Francisco Giants and Relix’s event, The Heart of Town, a three-night concert series celebrating the Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary and the city that shaped the band, has added Al Schnier from moe. to the Thursday, July 31 artist lineup. The Disco Biscuits’ Aron Magner has also joined the roster and will accompany Friday, August 1’s group of artists. LIMITED TICKETS remain for Thursday, July 31.

After performing their final concert together on November 26, 2023, at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y., and effectively ending their collective musical endeavors as a result of an indefinite hiatus, members coalesced on stage during the return of the Frendly Gathering at Timber Ridge in Windham, Vt., on Saturday night, July 19’s final festival staging.

The Disco Biscuits have outlined their New Year’s Eve schedule, billed as three nights at three venues, beginning on Monday, December 29, at The Sinclair in Cambridge, Mass., and presented as a TRACTORBEAM performance. Next, Bisco will emerge at the Royale on Tuesday, December 30, followed by the final night of celebration, Wednesday, December 31, at the new state-of-the-art venue, Roadrunner, which opened in 2022.
