The next Grateful Dead Meet-Up At The Movies will revisit the early ’90s. Curated by Trafalgar Releasing and Rhino Entertainment, the annual event will take place on Saturday, August 8 and Monday, August 10, beginning during The Days Between—the period honoring Jerry Garcia from his August 1 birthdate to his August 9 passing.

Greensky Bluegrass will now headline Floyd, VA’s FloydFest this Friday, July 24. As previously reported, Tedeschi Trucks Band were forced to cancel their main-stage appearances at both FloydFest and Newport, RI’s Newport Folk Fest after singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi had an appendix scare that required surgery. Father John Misty will now take TTB’s spot at Newport Folk.

On Wednesday, Phish opened their five-night summer run at Madison Square Garden. These shows represent the band’s 92nd through 96th performances at the venue. The group has emphasized these numbers and even issued a throwback digital version of their ’90s newsletter the Doniac Schvice. With this in mind, plenty of folks have anticipated that these five dates, will contain 1990s reference points and last night’s show saw this come to pass (including the lack of sleeves on Trey Anastasio’s shirt).

Dan Auerbach didn’t intend to start work on the next Black Keys record when he congregated with his longtime bandmate Patrick Carney and a group of close musical friends in the early months of 2025. But it turned out to be exactly what he needed during a particularly trying time.

After a three-year touring hiatus, Twiddle will return to the stage in November. The group will appear at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on November 27-29, 2026 for three Frendsgiving shows. This is a fitting locale for the group’s reunion, since the Cap was the location of the group’s previous dates on November 24-26, 2023.

After premiering at the Telluride Film Festival last August, Mischa Richter’s sweet and sun-dappled documentary Summer Tour moves into wide release this week. The documentary tracks two young and earnest Deadheads during Dead & Company’s final tour. Richter follows Jerry and Annie as they make the rounds from the lot into the show and back onto the road. Summer Tour is an empathetic look at Shakedown circa 2023, from a director who experienced Shakedown circa 1990. The film places an emphasis on sounds and visuals rather than armchair sociology.

Yo La Tengo will once again celebrate Hannukah a New York’s Bowery Ballroom. The veteran indie-rock trio will perform every night of the Festival of Lights, which this year falls on December 4-11, benefiting a different charitable organization at each show. As is tradition,the concerts will all feature a surprise opening act, unannounced guest comedian and a curated mix available for purchase. Different musical guests, which have ranged from local heroes to international stars over the years, will likely sit in each night as well.
