The Grateful Dead have claimed a new title. Today, 60 years after the band performed their first gig, a San Jose Acid Test, under the dictionary-plucked moniker, the psychedelic tripsters have received the Guinness World Records title for the most Top 40 albums charted on the US Billboard 200.

The Beatles will be the subject of a new mini-series, recently acquired by the BBC. The British broadcaster has picked up Hamburg Days. This forthcoming six-part drama pieces together the Fab Four’s early history and draws on [Beatles sessions player] Klaus Voormann’s autobiography, published under the same name.

From May 7-9 of next year, the quartet’s second annual destination festival with 100x Hospitality will bring three days of top-tier performances to the tropical paradise of San José del Cabo, Mexico. Featuring three headline sets from Goose, the festival lineup also includes 17 other acts such as My Morning Jacket, Cory Wong, Mikaela Davis, The California Honeydrops, and TRACTORBEAM, The Disco Biscuits’ electronica-oriented alter-ego, with more to be announced.

SPAGA have joined forces once again for SPAGA Plays Dead, a new tribute project pressed in partnership with Relix. The Philadelphia-based jam powerhouse’s first full-length release since their 2019 self-titled debut reunites The Disco Biscuits’ keyboardist Aaron Magner, drummer Matt Scarano and upright bassist Jason Fraticelli for masterful takes on six classics and deep cuts from the Grateful Dead’s expansive catalog. The project will be available exclusively as a limited-edition LP from relix.shop.

Yusuf/ Cat Stevens has canceled his North American book tour due to visa delays. The actual live appearances were slated for October. Despite the passage of time, Stevens acknowledged the revocation of seven US stops in support of his newly released memoir, Cat On The Road To Findout.

LCD Soundsystem have announced a return to Chicago in 2026. From March 5-8, the James Murphy-fronted electronica ensemble will deliver four performances at the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom as their second multi-night engagement of the new year, following four shows at Aspen, Colo.’s Belly Up from Dec. 31 to Jan. 3.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard returned to Australia this week to set off the final leg of a sprawling 2025 World Tour. After their surprise rave set in October marked their first hometown show since 2023, the genre-obliterating psych septet set off a seven-show bell-lap Down Under with two nights at the prestigious Sydney Opera House. To summon all the grandeur these appearances warranted, the band welcomed support from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for two special orchestral performances.
