For most, the mention of Haight Street in San Francisco conjures ideas of freedom, love and unity rooted in a subculture devoted to pushing boundaries and experimentation. This sentiment permeates multiple forms of art, both visual and sonic, and continues to inspire in multiple settings.

The first-ever Ionia Freak Fair took place on Friday and Saturday at the Ionia Fairgrounds in Ionia, MI. The epic weekend curated by Billy Strings who grew up in the area. In addition to Strings and his band, the roster of performers included Greensky Bluegrass, Sierra Hull, Leftover Salmon, Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, Lindsay Lou and Full Cord.

“I had taken a break from my personal musical projects to focus on collaboration and co-writing with other artists,” Morgan Nagler says, as she discusses the long gestation of her debut album, I’ve Got Nothing to Lose, and I’m Losing It. “During that time, I kept writing on my own because it’s just what I do. And, at a certain point, I thought, ‘There’s a lot of songs here. I probably should put some of them out.’”
Twenty-four vintage Grateful Dead t-shirts: tour shirts, city-specific one-offs, tie-dyes, a local-crew-only shirt never sold to the public, and a design the band pulled and destroyed before it ever reached a show. This collection documents the remarkable growth and development of the Dead's scene as they emerged from the 1970s and made the road their home in the 1980s, claiming all America as their stage.

Bruce Springsteen made a surprise appearance with Bleachers at Asbury Park, NJ’s Summer Stage at The Stone Pony. The New Jersey hero, who has been closely associated with The Stone Pony throughout his storied career, came on stage during Bleachers’ set to help on a cover of Tom Waits’ famed “Jersey Girl,” which he began covering 1981 and most recently played in Asbury Park in 2024 during the Sea.Hear.Now Festival.

Woods have confirmed that this will be the final year that they will host their annual Woodsist Festival at Accord, NY’s Arrowood Farms. Though the festival began in Brooklyn in 2009 and was held in California for several years, it has been an Arrowood mainstay since 2019.

Season 15 of The Caverns Sessions to Feature Warren Haynes, Jeff Tweedy, Punch Brothers, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Wynonna and More
Season 15 of The Caverns Sessions will premiere on September 9. The PBS show presents live performances that originated inside the renowned subterranean location in Grundy County, TN. Jeff Tweedy will kick off this season, which also features Warren Haynes, Wynonna, Punch Brothers, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, The Band of Heathens and Kyle Tuttle Band.

Bob Wagner & Friends performed at Essex Junction, VT’s Champlain Valley Exposition. Billed as the Honky Tonk Hoedown, the event featured multiple acts as well as an attempt to host the world’s largest square dance. And, as he hinted on social media before the show, Wagner brought out a few special guests during his set.

Fruition’s new studio album marks the end of the era for the group. As Jay Cobb Anderson says of Something More, which was released today, “This album is the culmination of almost two decades of making music as Fruition.” Indeed, the band has confirmed that following its current run of dates the group will step away from the live setting.
