Among Deadheads, few names carry the weight of Betty Cantor-Jackson. From the late 1960s into 1980, she sat at the soundboard and recorded the Grateful Dead night after night. Her tapes, known simply as "Betty Boards," became some of the most prized recordings in American music, including the band's celebrated May 8, 1977 show at Cornell that was inducted into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry. On Thursday, October 22, 2026 legendary recording engineer Betty Cantor-Jackson will record the final Forever Grateful concert with Midnight North in Golden Gate Park. Guests can listen to her live mix through headphones as it happens. Headphones are first come, first served.
