On Friday, March 6 an extraordinary assembly of musicians will gather at Carnegie Hall to honor the life and legacy of a remarkable artist. This singular figure is Zakir Hussain, the tabla maestro and cultural emissary whose work spanned genres and generations. Zakir Hussain Eternal: Celebrating 75 Years of Genius will pay tribute to the beloved Mumbai-born citizen of the globe, who passed away in December 2024.

Tedeschi Trucks Band is preparing for their highly anticipated multi-night siege of the esteemed Beacon Theatre in New York City. The residency begins on March 10-11 and continues over the ensuing weeks, with concerts scheduled for March 13-14, 18, 20-21, 25, and 27-28. A week out from the event, the hosts have unveiled a list of guests who will sit in on select dates, specifically each of their Wednesday night gigs.

After unveiling their Life Burns Faster residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere last week, Metallica have confirmed a slate of six additional shows due to “unbelievable demand.” The new additions, set for Oct. 8, and 10, Nov. 5 and 7 and Jan. 28 and 30, will bring the legendary metal outfit’s total show count at the technically unparalleled venue to 14. The band initially teased the new additions without confirming dates and the second batch’s structuring by the same original No Repeat Weekend standard initiated on their M72 World Tour, comprising pairs of Thursday and Saturday stagings with no setlist overlap.

On Monday, March 2, jury selection began for the antitrust trial of Live Nation and Ticketmaster began in a Manhattan courthouse, where representatives for the plaintiffs and the U.S. Department of Justice laid the foundation for their arguments for and against the companies’ outsized presence in the live music industry. The suit, filed in 2024 by the Biden administration’s DOJ and 39 state attorneys general, could seek the breakup of the entertainment giant and stand as the most important trial in the business’s history.

The Phoenix has announced the artist lineup for the third-annual Music on the Mountain, a special benefit festival celebrating recovery and supporting Trey Anastasio’s Divided Sky Foundation. Now at the center of Divided Sky’s BIG Weekend, a three-day family-friendly music and wellness and nature event staging at the Jackson Gore Village of Ludlow, Vt.’s Okemo Mountain from May 15-17, the festival’s return will expand its format considerably with a jam-forward full day of performances on May 16.

Wilco will hit the road this summer. After previously unloading the dates and locations for their intimate “An Evening with Wilco” run, slated for April and May, the band is looking further ahead and forecasting what’s to come when the temperature swells, and the sun shines past 8 p.m. The Chicago group’s initial appearance on the summer concert series will be Friday, June 12, in Grand Rapids, Mich., with the location to be determined.
