King Gizzard Set Discography to “Name Your Price” on Bandcamp

Reservoir Media has acquired the publishing catalog of jazz shapeshifter, trumpeter, and composer Miles Davis. The deal comes less than a year out from the artist’s 100th birthday, and grants the independent music rights company 90% of Davis’ music publishing rights, as well as the estate’s catalog income. While the official terms of purchase have not been publicly announced, The New York Times estimates that Reservoir paid between $40 million and $60 million.

In July, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard announced that they would no longer host their music on Spotify. Tedeschi Trucks Band and Gov’t Mule’s shared series was bound to bring some very special concerts, and one night out from the run’s end, high expectations have been thoroughly surpassed. Since Sept. 3, the revered Southern rock outfits have celebrated a long history of musical kinship with four electrifying split bills in Toronto, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Mansfield, Mass., and last night, Chicago. Tortoise have announced Touch, their first new album in nine years. Set for release via International Anthem and Nonesuch Records on Oct. 24, the revered Chicago post-rock ensemble’s first full-length offering since 2016’s The Catastrophist reunites bandmates Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Douglas McCombs, John McEntire and Jeff Parker from their independent careers to reveal how their shared perspective has evolved after nearly a decade apart. To preview the project, the quartet has shared the lead single “Layered Presence,” alongside a music video from director Mikel Patrick Avery.
