The 25th Annual Americana Honors & Awards delivered some high profile musical performances last night at the Ryman in Nashville. As noted earlier, the four surviving original Heartbreakers reunited and performed three songs with Chris Stapleton. During this portion of the show Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Similar plaudits also were handed to Robert Plant and Dolly Parton (who recorded her acceptance speech in advance).

Last night at the Ryman Auditorium, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 25th Annual Americana Honors & Awards. The four surviving original Heartbreakers were on hand for the ceremony and performed some Petty classics with Chris Stapleton fronting the group.

Renowned luthier Rich Hoeg has announced that he is retiring from day-to-day guitar building. However, fans of his work can take heart in knowing that his legacy will continue via the formation of Hoeg Electric Instruments. This new company, which is under the purview of Andy Logan Productions, which will maintain the tradition of hand-crafting guitars in the Bay Area. Hoeg will supervise Zack Jones and Addam Stark of Rick Turner Guitars on the instruments.

The Disco Biscuits will make their way to Worcester, MA in late October for two shows at The Palladium. The group will appear at the venue on October 30 and 31, with the Halloween gig offering a Movie Night.

On Sept. 12-13, Evanston Folk Festival returned to Dawes Park, just outside Chicago. The third annual gathering, featuring artists and purveyors of the folk music tradition, brought more than 30 performers across three stages over two days. In total, over 12,000 spectators attended the multi-day series that spotlights songs, stories, and select acts.
