New York’s Brooklyn Bowl has announced the details for its annual Rosh Hashanah celebration, which will take place in September. The musically driven High Holiday service, a 15-year tradition for the venue’s community, is slated to take place Saturday, September 12 at 10am. The morning will feature a full, traditionally rooted Rosh Hashanah service, plain-sense explanations of the religious aspects of the holiday, prayer, shofar blowing, meditation and live music drawn from throughout the Jewish diaspora.
Captured just weeks before the group dissolved, this Sonoma State show finds Garcia, Grisman, Rowan, Clements, and Kahn playing loose and joyful, the kind of night where bluegrass tradition and Bay Area spontaneity met without self-consciousness. Ramblin' Jack Elliott's appearance deepens the folk roots running through the set, connecting Old & In The Way's brief, beloved run to a longer lineage of American string music that Garcia clearly held close.

The newly announced stops include a three-night stand at Tokyo, Japan’s Blue Note Tokyo from October 17-19, the current’s lineups first trip to Australia in October and their final New York City play, which will take place at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge on November 12. …this stop at the Hampton Coliseum is certainly worthy of its lore. In addition to all the hallmarks of a quintessential latter-era JGB performance, this night featured a very special guest: Virginia's own Bruce Hornsby, joining on electric piano for the first and only time. The setlist is well-balanced throughout — mixing road-tested staples like "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)" and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" with more recent additions like Van Morrison's "Bright Side of the Road" and a closing "What A Wonderful World."

The shows were the seminal jamband’s first since they recorded a new LP live in front of an intimate audience at Woodstock, NY’s Utopia Studios in March and the band sprinkled selections from those sessions, like “Ambivalent Man,” “Another Wonderful Secret” and “Night Bird,” throughout their recent tour.
