On Saturday, Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts arrived at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, N.Y., for the latest appearance on the Love Earth Tour. During the second half of the single set performance, Young entered a sonic time machine and transported the crowd to the late ‘80s, where he revived the Life track, “Long Walk Home,” for the first time in 36 years. On the way back to the present day, the bandleader paused in 2013, picking up “Singer Without a Song,” and effectively ending a 12-year lapse in plays.

On Sunday, Aug. 24, The Disco Biscuits concluded their highly anticipated residency at the Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Pa., with a fittingly grand finale. Just outside their Philadelphia home base, the quartet’s series celebrating their 30th anniversary brought six shows packed with the sorts of surprises that have made them an essential fixture in jam and electronica since their humble beginnings. Night six built on the momentum of the run’s steady stream of debuts and rarities by welcoming the week’s first and only special guest, revered guitarist Tom Hamilton.

Last night, Aug. 22, Dave Matthews Band touched down on the West Coast for their long-awaited return to Inglewood, Calif’s Kia Forum. Onstage at the iconic Los Angeles arena for the first time since 1998, the long-running jam septet delivered a performance worth waiting nearly three decades for, featuring an enticing mix of certified classics and the many hits that they’ve rolled out more recently. The evening’s highlight came with a guest spot from Cory Henry, whose two-track sit-in marked his first crossing with Matthews and his tried and true group.

On Thursday night, Widespread Panic began their three-night siege of MGM Music Hall at Fenway Park in Boston. During the first concert, the Peach State band brought out long-time live collaborator, Chuck Leavell, to sit in and add instrumental flourishes to JJ Cale’s “Ride Me High” and the band’s own “Ain’t Life Grand,” alongside John Bell, John “JoJo” Hermann, Jimmy Herring, Domingo Ortiz, Dave Schools and Duane Trucks.

Guitarist Julian Lynch has announced that he will leave Real Estate following their upcoming dates on the road with Tennis. Lynch joined the indie-rock outfit in 2016, after co-founding guitarist Matt Mondanile was fired from the group due to allegations of sexual misconduct.

Last week, Umphrey’s McGee turned in a series of rarities which were revived during the Midwest arrival of their Cruising Altitude Tour at Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines, Iowa. Over the weekend, they remained in the region, where they traded bust-outs for debuts, reviving both concerts, August 22, at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, and August 23’s stand at Driftless Music Gardens in Hillsboro, Wis., with new material that also doubled as first-time covers.
