“I've played hundreds of venues over the years and there’s something about the energy inside the walls of certain places that makes you want to go the extra mile. The Capitol Theatre is the epitome of that,” offers Eric Gould, as he looks ahead to his September 19 performance with Pink Talking Fish that will commemorate the Cap’s 100th anniversary. “I think you could talk to almost any artist who has graced the stage and they’d feel the same way. So to be able to design this show that marks the achievement and collectively celebrate all the different artists who have performed there is an incredible honor and a treat.”

Shoreline Amphitheatre opened in 1986. The Grateful Dead were slated to perform the initial show at the Mountain View, CA venue until this gig was cancelled due to Jerry Garcia’s health complications. Following his recovery, Garcia went on to perform 39 times at Shoreline with the Grateful Dead and on three occasions with the Jerry Garcia Band. The Garcia Band’s final appearance at the Bay Area facility is featured on the forthcoming archival release GarciaLive Volume 23. The show took place on August 13, 1993 and the recording, which is available for pre-order, will be available on October 30th.

Ahead of some mid-September tour dates, The War on Drugs have released their first new studio music since 2022. Adam Granduciel wrote and produced “Who’s That” at his Burbank studio. He’s joined by Anthony LaMarca (drums) and Dave Hartley (bass) on the track, while he provides guitars, keys and vocals.

This Saturday night in Bridgeport featured TTB with opener Sheryl Crow. Sheryl had the crowd on their feet from the get-go, singing along to her 11-song set of mostly hits like “Can’t Cry Anymore,” “Strong Enough” and “Every Day Is a Winding Road.” She did play one new song, “Freedom Bus,” off her forthcoming album Pick You Up (out October 9th) and another highlight was “Cross Creek Road” off 2019’s Threads album—especially the dual guitar work of her longtime guitarists Peter Stroud and Audley Freed. Tedeschi Trucks Band started off the set with “The Letter” and closed with “Space Captain”—both fan favorites the group performed during their 2015 LOCKN’ performance recreating Mad Dogs and Englishmen.

Following a three-night stand at New Orleans’ Kiefer Lakefront Arena in late October 2000, Widespread Panic made their way to Texas for an appearance on Austin City Limits. This Halloween show, with pumpkins festooned around the stage has long been identified as a memorable performance. Five of the songs the group performed that night were from the 1999 fan-favorite release ‘Til The Medicine Takes while four were drawn from the group’s beloved debut Space Wrangler.

On Sunday, Dogs in A Pile made their way to Lake George, NY for an appearance at the Adirondack Independence Music Festival. The quintet delivered a headlining two-set performance at Charles R. Wood Park. Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe was also on the bill and the band’s namesake guested with DIAP. Denson emerged midway through the opening frame and contributed sax to “My Disguise,” a song that appears on the latest Dogs in A Pile album, 2025’s Distroid.
