On Sunday, July 13, Phish returned ot North Charleston, S.C. for their third and final performance at the North Charleston Coliseum. With their first two nights at the venue they’ve frequented since 1995, the legendary jam quartet locked into a mid-tour flow state and served up shows packed with the same sort of expansive jams and eclectic, eye-catching setlists that have made their Summer Tour so consistently engaging. Sunday’s show continued to build on this momentum with more surprising selections and lengthy explorations of old classics from a band that’s clearly enjoying the ride.

Yesterday, July 13, Jeff Lynne’s ELO was due to perform at London’s Hyde Park for their final bow. Hours before the show, the frontman and his reformed version of his legendary prog and pop-rock act were forced to cancel the long-awaited farewell appearance due to sudden health issues that prevented the bandleader from taking the stage or rescheduling what had been billed as his final performance ever.

On Friday, July 11, The Marcus King Band returned to announce Darling Blue, set to release via American Records on Sept. 26 as the group’s first record since 2018’s Carolina Confessions. For their triumphant return to the studio, the acclaimed Southern-rock torchbearer King and his longtime live ensemble drew influence from the bandleader’s deep connection to his home state of South Carolina and the range of styles they’ve mastered through the years, swirling country, psych-rock, electric blues, jam and classic R&B into an equally searing and soulful sound.

Short for Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness, BCUC was founded in Johannesburg, South Africa’s most famous musical neighborhood, Soweto. Lead singer Zithulele “Jovi” Zabani Nkosi, then barely out of his teens, “wanted to change the world with our music.”
