Phish closed out their two-show run at Columbia, MD’s cherished venue Merriweather Post Pavilion last night with another highly exploratory evening. The concert kicked with an early segue, as the Vermont Quartet moved from a 7-minute “Undermind” into a 10-minute “Back on the Train.” From there, the musicians offered the event’s first big surprise, not only busting out the Jon Fishman-penned ditty “Ass Handed” for the first time since July 22, 2023 but also stretching the song, which often clocks in at under two minutes, toward the 17-minute mark. Phish have made it a point to jam out some of their usually more compact tunes this summer and, after “Ass Handed,” they worked up two more segues to close their first set, moving from “The Moma Dance” into “Fast Enough for You” and then from “NICU” into “Oblivion” and, finally, “Possum.”

Goose have announced plans for their signature Goosemas holiday celebration. This year, the 13th annual event will take place at Atlantic City, NJ’s Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall on December 11-12, their first shows in the resort city. $1 from every ticket sold for Goosemas 2026 will benefit Western Sun Foundation (WSF), a volunteer-run 501(c)3 supporting grassroots nonprofits in the cities the band visits. A variety of VIP and travel packages will also be available.

God Street Wine have both confirmed a new studio album and fleshed out their Halloween plans. The quintet will release The Method, their first full-length LP since 2019’s This Fine Town, on Friday, October 30 and celebrate with an album-release show at New York’s Gramercy Theater. God Street Wine recorded The Method at Woodstock, NY’s Utopia Studios this past March, tracking the 11-song set live in front of a studio audience and running through each track twice. They then brought a handful of the new numbers on the road during their recent summer tour.
Best of Summer 2025 captures Mountain Grass Unit at full throttle, with a road-tested collection pulled from standout nights across the 2025 run. Spanning stops in North Carolina, California, Texas, Arkansas, Montana, Tennessee, and Oregon, it’s a crisp snapshot of what makes the band’s live show hit so hard: tight harmonies, runaway instrumentals, and the kind of momentum that turns a song into a sprint.

Last night, Maren Morris hosted a big show at Morrison, CO’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The evening as billed was scheduled to feature a special performance by Morris and the Colorado Symphony, a support spot from Brittney Spencer and a regrouping of The Highwomen, the all-star band consisting of Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Amanda Shires and “The Middle” singer. However, Spencer was unable to appear at the last minute so Carlile, who turned in a three-night run of her own at the venue this past September, stepped up and offered a surprise opening slot. She also invited Shires out for “Raise Hell” as well as an a cappella version of her own “Kudzu.”

Widespread Panic’s multi-night run at Oakland, CA’s Fox Theatre continued yesterday. Now deep into their first extended tour in a decade, the members of Widespread Panic decided to have some fun with their setlist last night.

The String Cheese Incident returned to Red Rocks this weekend for five sets of music. The group performed two sets on Friday, followed by three more on Saturday, which represented the group’s 57th and 58th performances at the venue.

Tedeschi Trucks Band have cancelled their upcoming appearances at Floyd, Va’s FloydFest and Newport, RI’s Newport Folk Fest after singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi had an appendix scare that will require surgery. The ensemble was slated to perform at the veteran festivals on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
