Phish returned to New York’s Madison Square Garden yesterday for the fourth show of their five-night summer residency at The World’s Most Famous Arena. Continuing the run’s theme, the Vermont Quartet looked back to 1995 with both their setlist and on-stage antics. Trey Anastasio also continued the trend of bringing back era-appropriate outfits by sporting a Jah Volunteer t-shirt throughout the night.

Jim James has confirmed a series of solo acoustic dates. The My Morning Jacket frontman, who is slated to release his first solo album in eight years, Wowed Out, on August 28, will hit the road this fall, promising a mix of solo cuts, My Morning Jacket songs and fun covers.
Cats Under the Stars is Jerry Garcia's fourth solo studio record and the first to be presented as the Jerry Garcia Band. Garcia often cited Cats Under the Stars as his favorite of all his albums, saying, "That's the one that I'm happiest with, from every point of view in which I operate on that record."

Oteil Burbridge will partner with LaMP for a special tour benefiting Make-A-Wish this October. The bassist, known for his tenures in The Allman Brothers Band, Dead & Company and Aquarium Rescue Unite, will perform alongside the Vermont-based trio—which brings together Trey Anastasio Band drummer Russ Lawton, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist Scott Metzger and Trey Anastasio Band keyboardist Ray Paczkowski—each night of the run.

Bernie Taupin will release his first solo album in almost 40 years, The Sea Has No Mercy, on October 23 via Vertigo Records and MCA Nashville. The Sea Has No Mercy is also the first album that Taupin has entirely self-written himself. The set is described as a “late-life manifesto” and the “soundtrack to his own life—a record that presents a master craftsman at his most personal, distilling 76 years of lived experience into 10 songs that are reflective and revealing, vivid and thoughtful, sometimes hushed, sometimes joyful, sometimes elegiac.”

Dark Star Orchestra have confirmed a round of fall tour dates. The run finds the group making stops in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic in November, before bringing things to a close with a special four-night return to Florida in early December. Highlights include a Rex Foundation Benefit at The Anthem in Washington, DC, celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s classic live album Reckoning, along with multi-night stands in Montclair, NJ, Huntington, NY, and Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Widespread Panic percussionist Domingo ‘Sunny’ Ortiz will join Sam Holt Band for a stop on their annual Remembering Mikey Houser tour next month. Every summer, Holt, who was Widespread Panic co-founder Michael Houser’s onetime guitar tech and then later filled in as the band’s lead guitarist before Jimmy Herring officially joined in 2006, pays tribute to his longtime friend with a short Southeast run.

The Hold Steady have announced their 11th annual Massive Nights holiday celebration. The multi-night concert event will return to Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Bowl from Wednesday, December 2 through Saturday, December 5. This year’s installment finds The Hold Steady celebrating the 20th anniversary of their classic 2006 third studio album, Boys and Girls in America. All shows are billed as “An Evening with The Hold Steady,” boasting two sets on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and no support acts.
