Over the holiday weekend, Phish returned to Colorado with a three-night series that turned from an old tradition to triumphantly inaugurate a new one. In place of their beloved Labor Day celebration at Commerce City, Colo.’s Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, where they’ve welcomed fans from far and wide for annual summer send-offs since 2011, the foundational jam quartet took the stage for an Independence Day run at the University of Colorado’s historic Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo. from July 3-5.

Two weeks into the European leg of Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts’ ongoing Love Earth Tour, the band proved they still have gas in the tank after producing a series of first-time treatments of select songs by this specific lineup: Young, Spooner Oldham (Farfisa organ), Micah Nelson (guitar and vocal), Corey McCormick (bass and vocal), Anthony LoGerfo (drums).

Last night, an all-star ensemble of Jerry Garcia’s collaborators and devotees assembled at Morrison, Colo.’s hallowed Red Rocks Amphitheatre to celebrate the late icon’s music and memory. After months of anticipation, the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration finally arrived as a fittingly titanic tribute to the late Grateful Dead bandleader, featuring a litany of classics from the band’s catalog and his solo work backed by the esteemed Colorado Symphony. Near the end of an evening loaded with powerful testaments to Garcia’s towering legacy, the band added one last statement of his influence with a sit-in from Mike Gordon.

Drummer Matt Cameron has left Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam posted Cameron’s official statement on Instagram. “After 27 fantastic years, I have taken my final steps down the drum riser for the mighty Pearl Jam. Much love and respect to Jeff, Ed, Mike and Stone for inviting me into the band in 1998 and for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime, filled with friendships, artistry, challenges and laughter. I am forever grateful to the crew, staff and fans the world over. It’s been an incredible journey. More to follow. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Peace and Love, Matt Cameron.”
