Since today is October 31, it seems fitting to revisit a longstanding tradition: the Phil-O-Ween shows at the Capitol Theatre. Phil Lesh would welcome a variety of players to join him on All Hallows’ Eve for some spirited performances. He appeared with the Terrapin Family Band as well as a variety of Phil & Friends lineups. His roster of guests included Robert Randolph, Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams, Nicki Bluhm, Taylor Goldsmith, Griffin Goldsmith, Mihali, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and many others, who joined him for the festivities.

Jerry Garcia’s custom-built Tiger guitar is expected to hit the auction block. The axe, made by luthier Doug Irwin and used from 1979 through Garcia’s last public performance at Chicago’s Soldier Field on July 9, 1995, is reportedly part of a sizable lot of esteemed and historic items, owned by the late Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay.

On Thursday, Oct. 30, fans swarmed Live Oak, Fla.’s Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park for the return of Suwannee Hulaween. The 12th annual iteration of the beloved four-day Halloweekend bash began with performances from some of the biggest names in jam, electronic dance music and all the styles in between, including two-set performances from returning favorites The String Cheese Incident and moe.

The Fall 2025 edition of Relix features Billy Strings. Billy is at the height of his powers, embracing traditional bluegrass while also redefining the genre, and he speaks openly about personal struggle with integrity and truth.
The bluegrass musician and his band will livestream imminent concerts, starting with his three-night run at the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville, Ala., on October 23 through 25. Included in the livestream offer will be Strings’ highly anticipated Halloween gig, and subsequent Nov. 1 follow-up, both of which will occur at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore. Night one has been dubbed “Meet Me at the Crypt,” and will see each band member take on the persona of a different Universal monster.

The American Cancer Society’s Rock The Pink campaign has initiated its annual charity auction. Live music fans have a rare opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind items that have been listed online. The auction began today, Friday, October 31, and will run through Thursday, November 6. Interested parties can browse and submit financial offers for pieces of music history, including rare signed instruments, custom gear, and exceptional experiences.

Earlier this week, the Disco Biscuits confirmed rumors that they had ended their tenure with longtime drummer Allen Aucoin. In a post shared to social media, the band informed their followers, “After much consideration, we’ve decided to part ways with Allen.” Now, the trance-fusion ensemble has officially filled the open seat, inviting Marlon B. Lewis (Star Kitchen, Keshi, French Montana, Ms. Lauryn Hill) to join their crew. In a video shared on the band’s official YouTube channel, the group showcases their sound and reflects on the nine-year lead-up to this lineup.

Twin sisters Katie and Allison Crutchfield have reunited as Snocaps on a new surprise album. Katie, the folk-rock powerhouse behind Waxahatchee, and Allison, of indie favorite Swearin’, first teased something new two weeks ago in polaroids taken with MJ Lenderman and Brad Cook. While it seemed safe to assume that the Crutchfields were forecasting their first shared project since the glory days of their indie-punk outfit P.S. Eliot, which ran from 2007-2011 and returned briefly in 2016, no one could’ve called that their reunion would arrive as a full album drop with no advance notice.

Next week, on Friday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 8, Reprise will pay tribute to Phish’s esteemed 1997 Texas run when they return to Brooklyn Bowl New York. During the upcoming performances, the band, which includes Goose drummer Cotter Ellis, will also pay homage to the late backbeat Bob Gullotti, who sat in with Phish on three occasions, including two concerts during their aforementioned ‘97 Lone Star State stint.

Tame Impala touched down in New York on Monday, Oct. 27, to set off the American arena tour supporting the release of Deadbeat. In the first of four packed performances at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Kevin Parker and his backing band formally introduced the project and the stage show fans can expect as they cross the country in the next few weeks, complete with live debuts of the bulk of the album’s tracklist.

Steve Hackett, who earned his reputation as the lead guitarist for Genesis from 1971-77, before embarking on a solo venture, turned in a performance on Wednesday, October 27, at New York’s Town Hall. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee was joined by a cast that included Roger King (keyboards), Nad Sylvan (vocals), Nick D’Virgilio (drums, percussion, vocals), Jonas Reingold (bass, vocals, guitar, bass pedals), and Rob Townsend (sax, woodwind, vocals, percussion, extra keyboards).
