On June 9, Sly Stone, the fearless innovator behind Sly & The Family Stone, died at 82. As the frontman, singer, songwriter, organist and producer for the legendary psychedelic soul ensemble, Stone created generational anthems that challenged the injustices of his era through joy and shook the foundations of popular music, laying the foundation for fusion, funk and more.

There are few artists who can stir fervent anticipation with ease like Paul McCartney. After decades at the apex of global superstardom, the legendary musician has mastered the art of creating frenzy through subtle teases and last-minute surprises, and he’s done just that again today with a post to his Instagram story. There’s not much to go on, but the photo and linked sign-up page seem to hint at 2025 US tour dates.
The Grateful Dead’s History of the Grateful Dead Vol. 1 (Bear’s Choice) is back on vinyl, celebrating its 50th anniversary with a stunning remaster from the original 2-track analog tapes. Produced by the legendary Owsley “Bear” Stanley, this was the band’s first archival release, and a tribute to Pigpen, their fallen brother in song and spirit.
Sourced from Bear’s recordings of the Dead’s February 1970 Fillmore East shows, Bear’s Choice captures a pivotal era: the band shifting toward Americana while still rooted in psychedelic fire. Side 1 is acoustic, reflective, and timeless. Side 2 lets Pigpen roar through electric blues and rock & roll. It’s a document of transformation—and now it sounds better than ever.

Healing Appalachia has filled out its 2025 artist lineup. After unveiling the names of headliners Tyler Childers and Chris Stapleton, the full festival roster has now been revealed for the September 19-20 gathering, which will take place at the Boyd County Fairgrounds in Ashland, Ky.
Our latest archival poster drop features two vibrant variants from Brian Blomerth, each reinterpreting the 2/19/71 show in his unmistakably wild, animated style. Symmetry, skeletons, and lightning bolts never looked so trippy.
Two prints come from the surreal, technicolor mind of Brian Blomerth, reimagining the Grateful Dead’s 2/19/71 show with playful detail, cosmic symmetry, and dancing bears in motion. Also debuting is the first in a six-poster series from Brian Steely, a beautifully intricate take on the full run of The Capitol Theatre shows. Think art deco meets psychedelic bones and roses.
