Last night, Widespread Panic arrived at ExploreAsheville.com Arena for the onset of their three-night run in the Harrah’s Cherokee Center. The series kick-off represented an overdue return for the beloved ensemble, who initially signed on for a batch of Asheville, N.C. gigs, on July 25-27, 2024, before the concerts were cleared for the band’s schedule in response to Jimmy Herring’s prior health trials.

Two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recipient, Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, Stephen Stills, has become the latest musician to sign on and participate in the San Francisco Giants and Relix’s event, The Heart of Town. Known for his work with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, the guitarist will put his unique talents on display during night one, Thursday, July 31’s program, which will occur at Pier 48. The three-night concert series, which concludes on August 2, celebrates the Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary and the city that inspired the band. LIMITED TICKETS remain for Thursday, July 31.

Bluegrass-Americana royalty, Greensky Bluegrass, will release their album, XXV, on October 31, via Big Blue Zoo Records/Thirty Tigers. Like the title’s Roman numerals imply, the studio collection coincides with the exact date of the group’s 25th anniversary, which will also be marked by a series of already announced hometown concerts, on October 31 and November 1, at Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo, Mich. As a first listen and sonic preview of the impending collection, the band shares their Billy Strings featured track, “Reverend.”

Last night, July 24, Gov’t Mule took the stage in Floyd, Va. for their highly anticipated headline set at FloydFest 2025. Gov’t Mule’s meaning stage closing performance doubled as the kickoff for their summer and fall touring, which will keep the band busy with a packed cross-country trek through the beginning of November. The band’s first performance since the spring was an explosive celebration of their catalog and frontman Warren Haynes’ other acclaimed ventures, plus a few well-traveled covers. The most notable detail from Thursday night, though, was behind the drum kit, where Terence Higgins filled in for founding drummer Matt Abts.
