The String Cheese Incident performed in Africa for the first time this past weekend, offering three two-set shows at Marrakech, Morocco’s Villa Marco as part of their Moroccan Incident destination event. The String Cheese Incident percussionist Jason Hann, who traveled to Morocco with Relix to preview the event, played a special welcome party at the start of the festivities, and popular area-bred rock band Meteor Airlines supplied support duties on Friday, the second day of String Cheese’s three-night stand.

Bob Weir’s 2016 studio set Blue Mountain will be celebrated with an expanded digital deluxe edition this fall. The new version of cross-generational, roots-leaning record, which was released 10 years ago today, will be issued on November 20 via Rhino/WMG, featuring previously unreleased recordings, live performances and other new offerings. The Blue Mountain album anniversary celebration will officially begin today, however, with a pre-order for a new 2LP pressing of the original Blue Mountain on 180-gram black vinyl. It will be available exclusively at Dead.net on October 16, Weir’s birthday.

LCD Soundsystem have confirmed their annual New York holiday residency. The ensemble will perform 12 shows over three weekends, beginning with a November 19-22 stand at Queens, NY’s Knockdown Center and continuing with their return to Brooklyn Steel from November 30-December 3. The run of shows will conclude with four more dates at Knockdown Center from December 10-13.

Deer Tick have fleshed out their New Year’s plans. The Rhode Island-bred act will stick around New England, performing at Boston’s City Winery on December 30 and 31. The group will play their modern classic 2007 debut album War Elephant in its entirety on December 30, as Deer Tick celebrate the anniversary of the LP, and offer “a good old fashioned NYE party” on New Year’s Eve proper. Singer-songwriter Al Olender will open night one while James Felice will provide support duties on night two.

Dave Matthews will tour Japan for the first time in 2027. In January, the Dave Matthews Band namesake will head to the Far East for solo acoustic shows at Tokyo’s Sumida Triphony Hall (1/6), Osaka’s Sankei Hall Breeze (1/8), Kyoto’s Ensemble Hall Murata (1/10) and Nagoya’s Diamond Hall (1/12). Though Matthews has not performed in Japan before, he has played in Asia, making his debut on the continent when Dave Matthews Band appeared in the United Arab Emirates in 2015. DMB has also performed in South America, Europe, Australia and Africa, as well as extensively throughout North America.

Umphrey’s McGee will ring in 2027 in Colorado. The Midwest-bred act will perform at the Ogden Theatre from December 30-January 1, offering what has been described as “a trio of shows guaranteed to deliver unforgettable memories alongside highly questionable sleep schedules.”
