Jorma Kaukonen will return to San Francisco to celebrate The Fillmore’s 60th anniversary in December. Billed as three “very special evenings with Jorma Kaukonen & Friends,” the concerts will take place December 11-13.

Kings of Leon will release their 10th full-length studio album, O My Beloved, on November 6 via Love Tap Records, distributed by Virgin Music. The ensemble self-produced the record for the first time, stripping things back from the expansive sound that has defined much of their career and returning to the raw spirit of their early days on the festival scene.

Dave Matthews Band closed their summer tour with their annual Labor Day run at George, WA’s The Gorge. After performing their 2009 release Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King in its entirety and welcoming opener Stephen Wilson Jr. to the stage Friday, the surprises continued on Saturday.
An Original Grateful Dead Tie-Dye from 35 Years Ago
The famed Boston Garden hosted the Dead for decades. By September 1991, the room had its own particular relationship with the band, well-worn, loud, and reliably sold out. Chris Pinkerton's graphic plays it straight for the building's other tenant: a skeleton dribbling a basketball, worked into a full tie-dye spiral of orange, black, and blue-purple that wraps front to back with the Grateful Dead name.

The Avett Brothers have confirmed their New Year’s plans. The Concord, NC-bred group will ring in 2027 at Asheville, NC’s ExploreAsheville.com Arena on December 31, capping off a busy year that saw the group launch its side-project with Mike Patton, AVTT/PTTN. Mountain Grass Unit and Homeboy Sandman will open the show.

The Bogmen will perform a special show at New York’s Webster Hall tomorrow, September 11, to honor the memories of those who lost their lives on 9/11. The evening, which marks the 25th anniversary of the horrific terrorist attack, will also feature Vapors of Morphine, a project led by Morphine co-founder and saxophonist Dana Colley. Morphine were one of The Bogmen’s longtime favorite bands.

Grace Potter, Larkin Poe, JJ Grey & Mofro and The Fabulous Thunderbirds are among the acts slated to join Joe Bonamassa aboard Sixthman’s Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea Alaska II. The traveling festival will set sail from Seattle, WA, to Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay and Victoria, BC, aboard the Norwegian Jade from September 14-21, 2027.

As previously reported, the sextet will perform at Boston’s The Wilbur on October 30 and 31, shortly after turning in a run of West Coast dates. The group has now confirmed that they will use the gigs to pay tribute to Richard Linklater’s classic 1993 film Dazed and Confused.

Jake Brownstein (Eggy), Aron Magner (Disco Biscuits), Eric Slick (Dr. Dog), Kellen Asebroek (Fruition), Craig Greenberg and Yoel Kohn will make guest appearances at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday, September 12 as part of the musical Rosh Hashanah celebration and service. Led by Rabbi Daniel Brenner and Jeremiah Lockwood, the event’s house band includes: Issac Garnder, John Bollinger, Jordan McLean, Stuart Bogie, Yula Beeri, Timothy James and Yusuke Yamamoto. The service will start at 10am and feature shofar blowing, prayer, a torah reading, meditation and other traditional elements of the holiday.

The String Cheese Incident have issued a new single, “Fête-Tama.” The drop arrives after the Colorado-bred act released another studio track, “Lightning Sky,” earlier this summer. “Fête-Tama” is described as “an instrumental, dance-floor-ready, electronic fusion of Afro-inspired percussion and heavy funk melodies, taking listeners on a 6-minute musical journey.” The ensemble first played the cut live at Houston, TX’s House of Blues on May 30.
