The Campfire Is Calling
Music, community, and late-night magic in Kerrville, TX
Some festivals move fast.
This one unfolds.
For 18 days each summer, the land at Quiet Valley Ranch becomes its own kind of ecosystem… one where songs travel a little slower, conversations last a little longer, and the line between artist and audience quietly dissolves.
The Kerrville Folk Festival isn’t built around big moments stacked back-to-back. It’s built around discovery.
You might catch a legend like James McMurtry delivering a set that lands like a well-worn novel… or wander into a daytime workshop where a lyric gets taken apart and rebuilt in real time. Later, you find yourself in a campground circle at 2am, listening to someone you’ve never heard before play a song you won’t forget.
That’s the rhythm here.
The 2026 lineup stretches wide, from the electrified energy of Andy Frasco & the U.N. to the soul-stirring presence of S. G. Goodman and the rooted storytelling of Mon Rovîa. And at its heart, 24 New Folk Finalists step onto the stage with nothing but two original songs and a shot at joining a lineage that reaches back over five decades.
This is a place where careers quietly begin.
Where songs find their first true audience.
Where the “next favorite artist” isn’t a tagline… it’s a regular occurrence.
And beyond the music, there’s something harder to name but easy to feel. After a year that asked a lot of the Hill Country, Kerrville returns as a kind of shared exhale… a gathering built on resilience, memory, and the simple act of showing up for one another.
No rush. No script. Just 18 days to settle in and see what happens.
