The Terrapin Family Band and Eric Krasno Will Play Live Score to Chris Benchetler’s Mountains of the Moon
Chris Benchetler’s Mountains of the Moon is a feast for the eyes and the ears. It’s inspired by the world of extreme sports and set to the music of the Grateful Dead. As the film’s description notes, “Captured almost entirely at night using cutting-edge cinematography, lasers, animation, and projection mapping, the film leads viewers on a surreal journey through ocean, river, and mountain landscapes. The world’s greatest athletes, adventurers, and thinkers appear as luminous figures, navigating through the natural world.”

Ween’s 1994-95 Chocolate and Cheese tour is the subject of a forthcoming extensive box set. Boognish Provides will be released on October 16 by Rhino. It will collect seven full performances during the tour. In addition, a 2-LP version will offer 19 tracks drawn from all these gigs.

Yesterday we reported that the first day of Ocean City, MD’s Oceans Calling had been cancelled due to weather. However due to the revised westward track of the Nor’easter, the festival as a whole will no longer take place.

Two NHL teams will celebrate Jerry Garcia in October with special promotional events. On October 15 the Nashville Predators will host a Jerry Garcia Night. Folks who purchase special tickets will also receive a Garcia x Predators hoodie. Their opponent that night will be San Jose Sharks. Then on October 30 the Florida Panthers will host their own tribute evening. The Jerry Garcia ticket package comes with a Garcia x Panthers beanie. The Winnipeg Jets will take on the Panthers that evening.

Has any major rock artist even approached Neil Young’s level of prolificacy? Depending on whose math you trust most, Second Song is either his 50th, 51st or 52nd studio album, his solo career beginning with his self-titled 1968 set and maintained regularly ever since. Toss in the various live recordings, compilations, etc., and the total bolts past a hundred. Whatever else he may be, Neil Young is no slacker.

After digging in rather robustly on an opening “I Guess I Showed Her,” with its driving bop belying this conspicuously early evening appearance, Robert Cray greeted the near-capacity crowd filling the historic movie palace. “Thank you for coming out on a Sunday,” Cray said, just above a whisper. “On football night.”
