TONIGHT: Final Forever Grateful Concert with Midnight North
Betty Cantor-Jackson Returns to the Board
Betty Cantor-Jackson Returns to the Board: Final Forever Grateful concert, recorded live Thursday, Oct. 22 with Midnight North
Among Deadheads, few names carry the weight of Betty Cantor-Jackson. From the late 1960s into 1980, she sat at the soundboard and recorded the Grateful Dead night after night. Her tapes, known simply as "Betty Boards," became some of the most prized recordings in American music, including the band's celebrated May 8, 1977 show at Cornell that was inducted into the Library of Congress National Recording Registry.
On Thursday, October 22, 2026 legendary recording engineer Betty Cantor-Jackson will record the final Forever Grateful concert with Midnight North in Golden Gate Park. Guests can listen to her live mix through headphones as it happens. Headphones are first come, first served.
Midnight North formed in the Bay Area in early 2012 by Grahame Lesh and Elliott Peck, whose harmonies came as naturally as the initial songs, along with bassist Connor O’Sullivan. The band is rounded out by drummer Nathan Graham and keyboardist TJ Kanczuzewski.
