Last night, Feb. 12, Trey Anastasio headed downtown for a surprise guest-spot in Jo Lampert’s special Valentine’s concert, Color Me Cupid – A Night for Lovers and Loners. Onstage at Joe’s Pub, the intimate club room in the East Village’s Public Theater, the Phish frontman joined the singer, actor and regular Phish collaborator for a cover of Talking Heads’ “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody).”

Last evening in Northern California, Warren Haynes began an extended touring trek that will find him on the road through early May performing in multiple musical contexts. Haynes will start things off in the solo setting for a series of dates that will culminate in Pelham, Tenn. where he’ll tape an episode of The Caverns Sessions for PBS. Then he’ll travel to Live Oak, Fla. for a gig at Suwannee Amp Jam 2 with the Warren Haynes Band, followed by a special show with Grahame Lesh, Nels Cline, Rob Barraco and John Molo. Additional WHB appearances will continue into March before he embarks on a Gov’t Mule tour. The Mule will route across the U.S. over the course of April, finally arriving in New Orleans, where the Warren Haynes Band Dreams & Songs Symphonic Experience will take place at the Orpheum Theatre.

Last night, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country returned to The Independent in San Francisco for their second and final Bay Area concert of the 2026 Winter Tour. After inviting Reed Mathis out on Wednesday night, which included Grateful Dead covers in recognition of their shared musical lineage and overlapping histories supporting Bill Kreutzmann, the four-piece was primed for another round of collaboration. During Thursday’s display the band welcomed Grahame Lesh at the end of the first set.

Jimi Hendrix is receiving some love from his one-time Greenwich Village neighborhood. The guitarist whose legacy reflects the revolutionary rebirth of the electric instrument will be honored by the City of New York on Tuesday, Feb. 24, when West Eighth Street, near Electric Lady Studios, is renamed “Jimi Hendrix Way.”

Sturgill Simpson has formally announced Mutiny After Midnight, his second studio album as Johnny Blue Skies. Set to release exclusively in physical formats on March 13 via Atlantic Outpost, the country-rock pathbreaker’s follow-up to Passage Du Desir – his 2024 debut under the new moniker – takes another bold step away from tradition by attempting to “make an album centered firmly on groove” with his Dark Clouds band. Simpson first forecast his return yesterday with a letter mailed to his fans, in which he explained the intentions that guided his latest left turn.

This was the overwhelming sentiment on Wednesday as the floating festival’s 22nd annual outing sailed back to Miami with one final full day of music, giving all aboard a chance to express their gratitude before returning to the world. Pickin’ in the Pines has unveiled its 20th anniversary artist lineup. The bluegrass festival will continue its two-decade-long history from September 18-20, 2026, when the program returns to the Pepsi Amphitheater in Flagstaff, Ariz. Leading this year’s roster is The Infamous Stringdusters, who have signed on to deliver two sets of songs during the imminent musical revival.

For the fourth year in a row, American Beauties is shining the light on International Women’s Month. The ensemble, known for its renditions of Grateful Dead classics and associated covers, will perform at the Ashkenaz Music and Dance Community Center in Berkeley, Calif., on Friday, March 13, 2026. The performance has been billed as a night to honor the legacy of Bobby Weir and Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay.
