Gregg Allman’s tremendous musical accomplishments and full life led in dedication to his craft have earned him recognition as one of rock’s most influential figures. That towering legacy will finally be chronicled on screen with Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul, the forthcoming documentary on the late Allman Brothers Band co-founder and guitarist directed by James Keach. Two months out from the film’s premiere, fans have received a first look at the film in a new trailer.

“I feel like I met him at a time when I really needed to,” Sturgill Simpson says of his fortuitous initial encounter with Bob Weir, which took place at Farm Aid in September 2023. Simpson was still recovering from a vocal cord hemorrhage that had occurred two years earlier and continued to sideline him. However, through Weir’s low-key insistence, he strapped on a guitar and joined Wolf Bros for a three-song set that opened with “Truckin’,” then moved into “Dark Star” and “Not Fade Away.”

After CBS conspicuously canceled the long-running late-night program in an appeal to Donald Trump, Colbert has spent his final stretch on the air expressing his criticism for the network and administration just as overtly. Beyond pertinent monologues and interviews, the political messaging of The Late Show’s last week has extended to its musical guests, with a rousing performance of “Burning Down the House” from David Byrne on Tuesday. Last night, Bruce Springsteen took the stage for more solemn commentary.

This summer, he’ll look back on some of the highlights of his incomparable career so far with the Claypool Gold tour, banding together Primus, Colonel Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade and The Claypool Lennon Delirium for an unprecedented collaborative 30-stop trek across the country. Last night, the caravan introduced the tour format with a kickoff from Reno, Nev.’s Reno Events Center.

Hipgnosis defined the visual identity for some of the U.K.’s most iconic rock albums of the ‘70s. From 1968 to 1983, the English design firm led by Storm Thorgerson, Aubrey “Po” Powell and Peter Christopherson devised the kinds of album covers collectors frame, including Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, Led Zeppelin’s Houses of the Holy, T. Rex’s Electric Warrior and many more. On Monday, music publishing company Primary Wave announced that it had acquired Powell’s interest in the design group’s expansive catalog, with plans for use in global exhibitions.
