In their meteoric ascent to global superstardom from 1977 to 1984, the Police landed many memorable hits, but only one that reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100. “Every Breath You Take,” released with their fifth and final album, Synchronicity, in 1983, was not just the London trio’s only U.S. #1 hit, but also the States’ best-selling single of its release year and the fifth best-selling single of the ‘80s. In 2019, BMI recognized the infectious soft-rock anthem as the most-played song in radio history; music journalist David Hepworth estimated that it accounts for something between a quarter and a third of frontman Sting’s total publishing revenue.

Last night, Aug. 27, Gov’t Mule rolled into Milwaukee to set off their Back in the Saddle Tour, crossing the country with a total of 25 dates through Oct. 28. For their kickoff performance at the Aurora Pavilion, the venerable blues-rock quartet helmed by Warren Haynes offered a towering two-set showcase of the band’s greatest hits through the year, heavy on covers of their stylistic forebearers and complete with a couple of first 2025 treatments.

Last night, Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts arrived in Chicago for their latest appearance on the Love Earth Tour. The midweek concert, held at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island, saw the five-piece band boldly express their political frustration through “Big Crime,” a new song that took the 13th slot in the set, positioned after Young’s Crazy Horse co-release and environmental activist prod, “Sun Green.” The band’s boisterous stance against the Trump administration was a commanding moment, emphasized by the lyrics, “There’s big crime in DC at THE White House.”

Bon Jovi have returned today to announce a star-studded collaborative follow-up to their 2024 album Forever. To continue the celebration of their 16th studio album and first since 2020, Forever (Legendary Edition) reimagines the project’s tracklist with new features from a stacked cast of contributors.

The String Cheese Incident have announced a touring update. Breaking from tradition, the band will not participate in holiday runs positioned around Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve. Instead, the band’s last performance before the end of the year will take place during Halloween, and their previous commitment to Hulaween, where they have signed on to perform six sets over the October 30 to November 2, 2025, schedule.

On Monday, Aug. 25, Gary Clark Jr. arrived at Cincinnati’s Andrew J. Brady Music Center for a solo headline performance within his stacked series supporting The Black Keys’ No Rain, No Flowers Tour. The cutting-edge, genre-bending bluesman made the most of his opportunity for a solo spotlight with a 14-track set spanning his two-decade discography, then made a headline of the evening with a surprise sit-in from Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks.

The latest effort to give back to the Grateful Dead’s late-60s contributor follows the success of a previously established GoFundMe.
