“I’ve never been part of anything that felt so miraculous,” proclaims Trey Anastasio. He offers this bold and deeply held declaration while musing on the Beacon Jams, the series of shows that streamed weekly from New York City’s Beacon Theatre in the fall of 2020 during the COVID pandemic. Anastasio appeared each Friday from October 9 through November 27, with an evolving passel of collaborators, performing music that spanned his career. In many instances, he fashioned new arrangements of material he had first played with Phish, Trey Anastasio Band and Ghosts of the Forest, juxtaposed with recent compositions that spoke to the moment.

On Friday, November 14, Billy Strings arrived at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., for the first of two Fall Tour concerts at the indoor arena. Night one glinted with a sense of psychedelia, a demonstrated willingness to push and to produce compositions beyond the ordinary, entice the audience, and keep them on their feet till night two. While the first performance sparked a sense of playfulness, Saturday’s follow-up came from the heart and started with a debut in honor of singer-songwriter Todd Snider, who passed away at age 59.

On March 13 and 14, artists will take their talents to the Bluegrass Hall of Fame and Museum in Owensboro, Ky., in celebration of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead guitarist’s longstanding history as a bluegrass enthusiast and participant of the practice. In addition to exhibition tours, panel discussions, complimentary film screenings, and workshops, a special batch of live music will also be played in honor of the late great contributor to the bluegrass canon.

Goose have released Live at Madison Square Garden, a massive new live album capturing their debut performance at The World’s Most Famous Arena. Recorded during that breakthrough staging on June 28, the ascendant indie-jam quartet’s latest release commemorates a year of musical achievement by presenting the show in its uninterrupted 19-track glory. The project is available on all streaming services now, as well as a seven-LP vinyl box set.

Bob Dylan paid tribute to his longtime friend and collaborator, Van Morrison, during a tour stop in the latter’s Northern Ireland on Thursday evening. The performance took place at The Waterfront in Belfast. It ended with a debut, a first-time cover of “Going Down to Bangor,” a track that initially appeared on Morrison’s 36th studio album, 2016’s Keep Me Singing.
