RECAP
Phish’s 2025 Summer Tour was an inexhaustible testament to their sustained courage and creativity. Through 23 stops across the country, the foundational jamband continued to embrace fresh challenges and perspectives, taking a left turn from previous 4.0 era runs with a renewed commitment to reinventing the classics and unfolding massive jams. The many unforgettable highlights they dosed out along the journey included record-breaking treatments of “Carini,” “Down with Disease,” “What’s Going Through Your Mind” and “Sand” and the full-set “Tweezer” medley that capped off their tour opening series in New Hampshire and has since been termed “Tweezerfest.” Indeed, night after night, this Summer Tour affirmed that we are living in a golden age of Phish, four decades after they first stepped into the spotlight.
RECAP
Billy Strings arrived at Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand, for his fourth and final show in the Oceania region on Tuesday night. The performance followed the band’s visit to J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy world, where they explored The Hobbiton Movie Set, the location used for the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the inspiration behind the group’s 2022 Halloween performance in Asheville, N.C., dubbed “Away from the Shire.” During the concert that ensued, the group worked through two sets of music that evoked themes of existential pondering and nostalgia, classic motifs of the bluegrass catalog that also apply to Frodo Baggins’ own range of feeling.

The sonic integrity of a Grateful Dead concert has long been a pull for frequency seekers. During the onset of the psychedelic ‘70s, the band’s fathom audio engineer, Owsley Stanley, recruited John Meyer to assist in actualizing the Wall of Sound. This first-of-its-kind high-fidelity system would ultimately change the course of live music, and still inspires a partnership between the modern iteration of select players, Dead & Company, and Meyer Sound, resulting in a new short film, A Legacy in Live Sound.
