Widespread Panic have announced the return of their annual destination concert vacation, Panic en la Playa, happening January 19-23, 2027. For its 14th cycle, the beloved beachfront event, which takes place at Hard Rock Riviera Maya, located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, features an extensive lineup of top talents and musical contributors who have signed on to take part in the festivities and entertain the masses.

On Tuesday evening, Grahame Lesh & Friends took the stage at The Joy Theater in New Orleans for the first in a two-night series performing Grateful Dead music. The event was billed as a nod to “Truckin’” and its Big Easy mention, which conveys the timeless line and historic truth: “Busted Down on Bourbon Street.” To that end, the ensemble of selected musicians delivered a two-set performance that showcased their verve for the Dead’s songbook.

Dark Star Orchestra have set its sights on the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Calif., as the official setting for its ensuing benefit for the Rex Foundation, titled The Music Never Stops, A Tribute to Bob Weir. The two-night event is slated for July 31 and August 1 and builds on the success of 2024’s concert/charity concept debut.
“I was in a band called Mixel Pixel for a long time. We did some tours with the likes of Montreal, Man Man and different kinds of indie rock bands. I never liked being on stage though. I preferred being in the merch booth, talking to people after the show and making posters for our band. Then I started making posters for other people’s bands, as well,” remarks artist Rob Corradetti, creator of the psychedelic art brand Killer Acid.

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings have announced a handful of new Pacific Northwest performances on their celebrated Grateful Dead Acoustic Reckoning tour. After a month of stirring shows from the longtime musical partners honoring the foundational jamband’s catalog, they’ve extended the celebration into mid-August, with pairs of performances at Portland, Ore.’s Revolution Hall and Seattle’s Moore Theatre on Aug 15-16 and 19-20.

Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks will perform the National Anthem at the Kentucky Derby this Saturday, May 2. The 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby will, as always, take place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, with the National Anthem slated for around 5 pm ET and the Louisville Cardinal Marching Band’s traditional take on “My Old Kentucky Home” set for 6:47 pm ET. The race’s post time is 6:57 pm ET. Tedeschi Trucks Band last performed in Kentucky at the Bourbon & Beyond festival in 2025, though Trucks made a surprise appearance with The Lumineers at the same festival this past fall.

David Byrne has released “¿Cuál Es La Razón?” The tune is a new take on his track “What Is The Reason For It?” from his latest album, Who Is The Sky?, which finds Grammy-award winning Mexican singer Natalia Lafourcade taking on Hayley Williams’ parts from the original recording. Produced by Mexican Institute Of Sound, the Latin-infused version of the song is said to be inspired by Byrne’s experiences in Mexico City and “the enduring mysteries of love.”

This September, Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ will come together for a busy slate of live appearances beginning on September 1 at McCaw Hall in Seattle. The forthcoming touring efforts come nearly a decade after the release of their collaborative debut, TajMo, and 2025 follow-up Room with a View. The current roster of newly added concerts will take the duo through the Pacific Northwest, down to California, and into parts of the American Southwest through September 26.

Dave Matthews has contributed a new, original tune, “Papertown,” for an upcoming documentary of the same name. The song, which was released in the teaser trailer for the Jeremy Seifert-directed film, features vocals by Sierra Ferrell and fiddler from Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek. Papertown centers on the the community of Canton, NC after the sudden closure of a 115-year-old paper mill, which “shatters the economy of an Appalachian town, forcing its people to confront the loss, and rediscovery, of their shared identity.”
